Thank you for helping bring RoamLore to life. These Contributor Terms ("Terms") apply when you submit photos, local knowledge, corrections, feedback, ideas, or other materials ("Contributions") to RoamLore ("we", "us", or "our"), for example through our contributor form.
By submitting a Contribution, you agree to these Terms. There's nothing complicated here — the goal is simply to let us use your Contribution in the app while making sure everyone is treated fairly.
1. You Keep Ownership
You keep ownership of your original Contributions. These Terms do not transfer ownership of your photos or other materials to us — they only give us permission to use them as described below.
2. Licence You Grant to Us
For each Contribution you submit, you grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, sublicensable, and transferable licence to use, reproduce, adapt, crop, resize, format, display, and distribute the Contribution:
- within the RoamLore app and its learning content;
- in connection with promoting RoamLore (for example, app store listings, our website, and social media).
This licence continues for as long as needed to operate and promote the Service, including for copies already distributed. You may ask us to stop using a Contribution going forward (see Section 7).
We are not obligated to use any Contribution, and we may remove or replace it at any time.
3. Credit
Where we use a photo you contributed, we will make reasonable efforts to display your name (or chosen handle) as the photographer wherever that photo appears in the app. Exact placement and format are at our discretion, and credit may not be technically possible in every context (for example, certain promotional formats). If you prefer not to be credited, let us know.
4. Thank-You Perks
As a thank-you, we may offer perks such as premium unlocks or limited-edition in-app frames. Perks are provided at our discretion, are not guaranteed, have no cash value, and are not payment or compensation for your Contribution. Contributing does not create an employment, partnership, or agency relationship between us.
5. Your Promises (Warranties)
For each Contribution, you confirm that:
- it is your own original work (for photos, you took the photo yourself);
- you have the right to grant the licence in Section 2;
- if people are recognisable in a photo, you have their consent (or that of their parent/guardian if they are minors) to share it with us for these purposes;
- you had permission to take photos at the location, where such permission was required;
- the Contribution does not infringe anyone's intellectual property, privacy, or other rights, and is not unlawful, misleading, or offensive.
6. Feedback and Ideas
If your Contribution is feedback, a suggestion, a correction, or an idea (rather than a photo), you agree that we may use it freely, without restriction or obligation to you, to operate and improve the Service. We are grateful for ideas, but we cannot treat them as confidential or guarantee that any idea will be used or attributed.
7. Removal and Withdrawal
You may ask us to stop using a Contribution by contacting [email protected]. We will make reasonable efforts to remove it from new versions of the Service within a reasonable time. We may not be able to recall copies already distributed, cached, or downloaded by users. We may also remove any Contribution at our discretion.
8. Indemnity
To the extent permitted by law, you agree to be responsible for any third-party claim that arises because a Contribution you submitted breaches your promises in Section 5 (for example, a claim that a photo infringes someone's copyright or privacy). Please only submit Contributions you are confident are yours and cleared to share.
9. No Obligation; "As Is"
We are under no obligation to review, use, store, or return Contributions. Contributions are provided by you on an "as is" basis. We are not responsible for any loss of a Contribution.
10. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of British Columbia and the federal laws of Canada applicable there, consistent with our Terms of Use.
11. Changes and Contact
We may update these Terms from time to time; the "Last updated" date above will reflect the current version. The version in effect when you submit a Contribution applies to that Contribution.
