RoamLore ("RoamLore," "we," "us") is an educational app for learning about geography, culture, and history through daily quizzes. This Privacy Policy explains what we collect, how we use it, and your choices. RoamLore is operated by RoamLore, based in British Columbia, Canada.
We do not sell your data, we do not show ads, and we do not track you across other apps or websites.
1. Information we collect
- Account identifier. When you open the app, we create an anonymous account ID so your progress can be saved. This is required for the app to work.
- Email address. Only if you sign in with Google or Apple. Used to create and access your account.
- Learning progress. Your answers, streak, and mastery, to run the app and personalize learning.
- Profile details. A display name ("handle"), which is required, plus optional motivation and home country that you may provide during onboarding.
- Crash and diagnostic data. Collected through Sentry to keep the app stable. This does not include your email or name (personally identifying data is disabled).
- Server and access logs. Such as IP address and timestamps, recorded by our web server and Cloudflare, to operate the service securely and prevent abuse.
- Saved facts. Content you save is stored only on your device and is not collected by our servers.
We do not collect: precise location, contacts, photos, health data, financial or payment information, advertising identifiers, or any data for cross-app tracking.
2. How we use your information
We use the data above to: provide and save your progress; create and secure your account; personalize your learning experience; keep the app stable (crash diagnostics); and operate the service securely and prevent abuse (server logs).
3. How we share your information
Your profile is not shown to other users. We share data only with service providers that help us run the app:
- Google and Apple — to provide sign-in (only if you choose to sign in).
- Sentry — crash and performance diagnostics (no email or name).
- Cloudflare — network delivery and security.
- Resend — to send transactional email (such as account-related messages).
Your personal information is stored on servers we operate in British Columbia, Canada. We do not sell your personal information.
4. Data retention
We keep your account data while your account exists. Server and access logs are kept for up to 90 days. When you delete your account, we delete your associated data as described in Section 6.
5. Security
We use encryption in transit (HTTPS/TLS) and restrict administrative access to our systems. We also enforce row-level access controls on our database and encrypt data at rest. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we take reasonable measures to protect your information.
6. Your rights and choices
You can delete your account and its data from within the app, or by contacting us at [email protected]. Depending on where you live, you may also have rights to access or correct your personal information; contact us to exercise them.
7. International users
We are based in Canada and your data is stored on servers we operate, and processed in Canada. If you use RoamLore from outside Canada, your information will also be processed by the service providers listed above.
8. Children's Privacy
RoamLore is a general-audience educational app. It is not directed to children under 13 (or under the minimum age required by your local law, such as 16 in parts of the EU/EEA), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under that age. 9. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We will update the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the app.
